History & Background

How to Arrive

Book a guided day tour starting from Cusco (departing early at 4:30 AM). Transport drives to Soraypampa base camp, where the 1.5-hour steep hike starts.

Practical Travel Tips

  • Aclimate in Cusco for at least 2 days before attempting this high-altitude trek.
  • Use trekking poles to protect your knees on the steep downhill return.
  • Leave a small stone tribute (Apacheta) by the lakeside to thank the mountain spirits (Apus).
